The Grosvenor UK Poker Tour (GUKPT) enters its 14th season on January 23rd when it stops off at the famous Grosvenor Victoria Casino where it will call home until February 2nd.
GUKPT London gives players the chance to see a handful of new-look tournaments in action for the first time.
We regret to inform you that the Poker Room will be permanently closing. As you are aware, there is a Bad Beat Jackpot that has not hit since October 19, 2019. We are distributing this money via a drawing to those who had play at Bad Beat eligible games in our Poker Room between 10/20/19 and 3/15/20. The drawing will take place on October 28, 2020. The Victoria Casino is owned and operated by Grosvenor Casinos Limited (a company incorporated in England and Wales under company number 00877080), whose registered office address is TOR, Saint-Cloud Way, Maidenhead, Berkshire, SL6 8BN.
The GUKPT Midi Main Event gets the festival underway, guaranteeing £100,000 for a £560 buy-in. GUKPT as several similarly-sized Main Events on its 2020 schedule, but this particular one is in addition to the massive £300,000 guaranteed Main Event.
Speaking of which, Grosvenor has increased the buy-in for GUKPT London from £1,110 to £1,500. It is an increase of 26% and it remains to be seen what effect, if any, the higher buy-in has on the attendance figures. The £1,500 is broken down to £1,350 for the prize pool and £150 in tournament fees.
One man guaranteed to be playing for a share of the £300,000 guaranteed prize pool of the Main Event is Richard Kellett. Kellett won the National Poker League’s top prize, a £14,000 Diamond Package, during the previous season. The package awarded him entry to every GUKPT Main Event in 2020, a £2,000 accommodation package, merchandise, and a goodie bag.
Kellett showed incredible consistency last season, reaching four GUKPT Main Event final tables, six 25/25 Series final table, plus a trio of Deepstack final tables.
The other new addition to the schedule is a £5,000 High Roller event. GUKPT has shied away from such buy-ins in the past, but looks to be dipping its toes in the water in the capital to see how they get on. One would imagine they will perform well in and around London, but struggle further north. We shall wait and see.
